The Clean-Up

View Video

Now that I am a homeowner, I understand (a little more) the pressures of yard maintenence. Bagging leaves seems so ridiculous. With every leaf that falls, an imaginary tear is shed. This year I decided to document my dread. To my surprize, I had actually had fun raking with some help from my two year old daughter.

That Good Ol' Timey Music

I recently attended the 26th Annual Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Festival just north of Richmond, MN at El Rancho Mañana. The gathering is the largest of it's kind in the Midwest lasting four days. I had the pleasure of chating with Richard Dugan, a violin vendor who works with musicians of all ages, but focuses on children just getting started in music. Richard also played a beautiful version of "Danny Boy" on one his own violins.

Hometown Pride

View Video

Every summer the city of Cold Spring, MN hosts a large-scale small town festival. Music, food, and beer are the staples of the Hometown Pride Festival. The event is a held on the grounds of Gluek Brewing Company, the largest brewery in the state of Minnesota. Tours of the brewery are continuous through the weekend. The North Star Chapter of the Brewery Collectables Club of America is there in full force buying, selling and trading their beer can and breweriana collectables. The car show is a huge draw and so are the vendors. I had a chance to chat with the director of Casa Guadalupe a hispanic outreach in Cold Spring. Their food was outstanding. ¡Los tacos eran muy buenos!
